Book Review: Carry On by Rainbow Rowell

Actual Life Crisis: How can I pick between Fangirl and Carry On to be my favorite Rowell book?!

Wow! Sorry, but this IS the best Rainbow Rowell book ever. Maybe I’m too excited and I’m over reacting. Maybe not. I am not overreacting, I promise. Carry On is a total different from the other Rowell books and maybe this is one of the reasons I loved this book so much. It shows us how magical this author is. I found myself laughing out loud so many times. I think she did a GENIUS job with this one. She mixed so many things in a so well developed story with romance, pop culture references, fan fictions, magic and friendship… It was everything!!!! Just when you think you couldn’t get more from her, she brings this epic story.
The characters! It’s so hard to pick a favorite. Rainbow Rowell is an expert in creating lovable and unforgettable characters and this was no exception. They are all great, even minor characters are important. I think my top favorites are Agatha and Penelope.
The romance in this story is very small compared to the other Rainbow books. As you know, and if you don’t you know it now, this a LGTB book and two boys fall in love. This romance starts to happen nearly the second half of the book and I didn’t give it much importance because the big plot was much bigger.
I started reading the physical copy and while reading the characters in my head, I could imagine their voices. I thought it could be nice idea if I’d listened to the audiobook and I ran to use my Audible credit and it was the best decision I’ve made. Rowell words are so easy to read and to get hooked on that I couldn’t go back to the physical book.
Did I cried? Yes. Did I laughed? Yes.  Carry On is a tribute to our pop culture and to the fan fiction writers community. It’s a story you’ll never forget full of friendship and magic.
I am so glad to buddy read this book with my friend Pilar as part of the RockyMyTBR challenge . She was so nice to wait for me while my busy schedule didn’t allowed me to read faster.
